it was 10:30 in the morning, and tremendously sunny outside when…
i saw a possum in my backyard. aren’t they supposed to be night time creatures? i think so. and let me tell you.. this thing was HUGE. i mean, i guess i don’t know the average size of a possum but this was one plump possum. how did i spot this thing, you ask?
well, as i was brushing my teeth, i was looking out the window that has a view of my entire backyard, as i do every morning when i brush my teeth. i glanced towards the shed and noticed something that looked….. out of place. then i saw the tail! it was nasty. so as i stared in shock with my jaw to the floor (because for the first time, since i’ve been coherently aware (or, for lack of better terms, old enough), i’ve seen a semi-exotic animal!).
another thing you should know is that i live on a mountain.. in the woods. it’s not total isolation, there is a small-ish neighborhood but my sister and i are pretty sure we are the only two living up here who have never seen exotic animals, such as bears, mountain lions, bobcats (all of which live in the woods just behind our house.) the most i’ve ever seen are really long, black, irridescent snakes and (now) a possum! … mind you, my first LIVING possum. i have, of course, seen road kill…… gross.
ok, this post was much longer than it needed to be. just thought i’d kill some of my innumerable amount of time. sorry for the bore, but i doubt anyone is reading anyways.
